Events April 27 – April 28

Friday April 27

Envahissons Westmount: Un Nouveau Quartier Rouge!/ Let’s Invade Westmount!
12:30pm, Square Cabot (Atwater & Ste-Catherine)  – (fb event)
Let’s support our neighbours at Dawson who are organizing this march. Here is their text:

After a failed Strike Referendum, a group of Dawson College students decided to form a contingent called Dawson Persists to fight against the hikes in other ways and to support those students on strike. On April 27th, we invite you to our riding, Westmount, which is also home to Jean Charest, to protest for our rights. It’s time to show the 1% that we also have a voice and that we will not give up. The government is trying to take away our right to education, we have to fight for it.
Be there, Be Square!

SIT-OUT for Real Negotiations (fb event)
12:30pm, in front of Charest’s office (770, rue Sherbrooke W)
Not sure if this needs a description.

Manifestation: c’est pas une offre, c’est une insulte ! (fb event)
8:30pm, Parc Émilie Gamlin
Another night protest following the gov’ts recent proposition.

Saturday April 28

Action locale: Manif/Sit-In contre la judiciarisation de la grève
10am – 12pm, Place Jacques Cartier
The invite says to bring your chalk, music and good humour — sounds like a pleasant way to protest the injunctions given to the cégeps who voted to strike!

La Grande Corvée en Rouge (Carré Rouge at the annual Mount Royal clean-up)
12:00 Parc Jeanne-Mance (Meet at the statue at Rachel & Parc) (fb event)
Dress in red and help clean up the Mountain!  Pacifistic and a show of good citizenship! A similar event to take place in Côte-des-Neiges on Sunday (fb event)
